Chic design. Budget friendly. These two concepts are possible together! My approach to creating modern spaces on a budget is simple: mix high-end finishes (or pieces) with budget ones. Checkout this old, dark hallway project. We rarely used the space, and it became an over-stuffed storage space with little utility. Additionally, it’s the first space guests see when entering our beautiful (but OLD) 1940s San Diego home. We also didn’t have any sort of sitting area to take shoes off. So I researched (ahem, Pinterest, looking at you!) and designed a look to incorporate bead board, a bench with DIY upholstery, and matte black hooks. The bench also lifts up for hidden storage - bonus. The end result is better than I imagined! The space is open and airy, has so much use, and looks beautiful. Let me know what you think of the before and after.
