Let me first say, something as seemingly simple as uniform wood posts can really be quite a complex and daunting project. I am lucky that my father and husband agreed to tackle this old, 40-year-old-ish blue, termite buffet of a fence, and transform it into a clean and healthy perimeter. After renting an extra large dumpster and removing the old fence (chock full of decomposing rat bodies - EEK!), installing hundreds of beautiful and clean posts (ready made by @HomeDepot), the new canvas that is my fence was ready for me.
As an indecisive fence novice, I actually took a vote among all my friends, family, and Instagram followers to see which color I should stain the fence. The poll results were all over the place with no real consensus. BUT, when one of my girlfriend’s told me she loved the natural color, I was inspired.
I picked up a 5-gallon bucket of “translucent” all-weather stain, as well as a $75 spray gun from Amazon.com. The whole staining project took about 6 hours, but I’m happy to share the results exceeded my expectations.
